Brian Frouds Faerielands

Brian Froud has drawn inspiration from the landscapes of the English moorlands to create an unparalleled body of creative work. He is the genius behind Jim Hensons The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. We have reproduced a scene from his 2007 book Brian Frouds World of Faerie for our Mischievous Creatures cover design.

This cover design is taken from an illustration accompanying the poem The Land in Brian Frouds 2007 book World of Faerie. The poem provides the perfect companion to Frouds distinctive style of art, telling the story of the elements of the earth taking on a life of their own. The sentient beings that inhabit our journal cover invite you to step into their mischievous world.

Drawing inspiration from the gnarled shrubbery of Englands windswept moorlands, Froud is best known for being the mad genius behind Jim Hensons film The Dark Crystal, and for illustrating such bestsellers as Lady Cottingtons Pressed Fairy Book.

The long-awaited sequel to his international bestsellers Faeries and Good Faeries/Bad Faeries, Frouds World of Faerie offers us a startling new vision of the magical realm, enhanced by the authors own words about his experiences and insights.
